Game three came after an evening of bitter defeat for the England rugby team, which the German armies who now faced each other across the field of battle really didn't give a monkeys about either way. The warm glow of curry was fading from the mind, but not the nostrils as players recongregated at the cowshed to start the second days festivities.

This time the terrain was far more conducive to a proper battle, and the opposition were most certainly from the right century, never mind being modelled on real people rather than some made up tosh designed to extract pocket money from 8-year-olds who didn't like running around playing football.
Both armies were near-identical, with my own German forces having the edge in Generals (4-3) against an additional infantry unit for the enemy.
With a linear deployment, the main tactical difference between both sides was that I had chosen to concentrate my three Superior units together on the left flank, whereas my opponent has spread his Superiors more evenly throughout his lines. The enemy forces extended some way past my right flank, but my more mounted were stacked more heavily on the left.
With three Superior units on the left this part of my army advanced rapidly, whilst the opposite flank hung back in the face of superior forces
I was once bitten on the arse by a German Shepherd, but he apologised afterwards and even introduced me to his dog.
On the far left the enemy were defending a hill with their 4 dragoons, as my Carbine horse and 3 Dragoons moved up to challenge them, also tempting the enemy horse to come out into range of the Light Gunnes
The enemy were stoutly arrayed, ready for the battle to come as my three "Colour" regiments advanced towards them.
Wallenstein was reluctant to hold back, but with his orders firmly clutched in his hand he commanded the left wing to be cautious and delay their engagement - keeping some of the Superior enemy units out of the game and giving time for my own Superiors to carve an advantage.

The battle of the coolest flags was raging hard from the first moments of the game to the last
With the enemy German Cuirassiers cowering at the back under the gaze of my gunners, the Carbine/Dragoon combo moved up to roll 6 dice at the enemy Dragoons
Very few casualties were falling on either side as the two lines closed on each other in technicolour glory
But glory turned to "gory" as my Dragoons suffered base and cohesion losses whilst the enemy stood firm up the facing hill.
Bases were starting to be shed on both sides as the two lines closed rapidly - the Superior shooting of my red-clad regiment was taking a deadly toll on the facing enemy as the two sets of Germans stood barely a sausage-length apart (not something any of them particularly wanted to measure accurately however)
With my infantry closing in on the rather ineffective enemy gunnes, their own troops had stepped forward through the line of artillery and were now engaged in hand to hand combat at the end of both sides line. The enemy charge however was devastating, and my troops found themselves needing to roll high just to remain on table through past the end of the melee phase
Similar debacles were occurring on the far left, where the 6 dice of my combo shooting were proving no match for the 2+2 of the enemy Dragoons - my own dragoons were fleeing in disarray, leaving the average carbine horse yet again badly exposed
Treaty of Westphalia
The Carbine horse tried unsuccessfully to drive off the enemy dragoons, charging and forcing them to evade but both failing to catch them whilst also ending up dangerously close to the enemy Cuirassiers too. With the flank rapidly dissolving into disaster my own Cuirassiers were taking their lives in their hands in an attempt to plug the gap, risking having their own foote rout through or more hopefully past them in the immediate future.
More despair rolled along the line, as a General-led Superior unit broke and routed from 3 shooting-induced cohesion losses whilst the enemy facing them simply shrugged off the supposedly Superior marksmanship of the Blue Regiment and continued almost unscathed
The infantry on the left did indeed rout, and only a series of serendipitous "short" rout moved saved the Cuirassiers from the ignominy of being burst through by peasants
The unit continued to rout leaving the Cuirassiers danger-close to the jubilant enemy infantry formation
TYW and Country Music !
The attempted delaying action on the right was now looking pointless, with the supposedly stronger wing already in tatters and my forces just moved forwards looking to try and secure some points in what was turning out to be a rather painful morning's play
The enemy Cuirassiers took full advantage of the incompetence of the carbine armed horse, and whilst they no doubt could have achieved the same result frontally they slammed into their unprotected flank with glee and abandon
The "battle" barely lasted into the impact phase as the Carbines broke and fled
Everything was going wrong all along the line as my army threatened to run out of cohesion markers due to the violence being done upon it by the enemy forces
Soon barely any units were left - the army was utterly shattered in a move celebrated by traders in the accompanying show - a crushing defeat

Alter Schwede! What the Feuckenhandelbattledisaster happened here ?! Our plan appeared solid, well regimented and screwed together by master Kraftsmenn, but after der enemiekontactmoment the plan wast nein good at all!
Catholicism at least is saved after ein mutual victory for der forces ausf teutonic Popery, but I am making many thechnical thoughts about how such a thing could happen, and my thoughts are still more sauer than kraut in this respect at such close proximity to the disaster.
This was ein directkmatchup und to lose is humbling. I am undoubtably as dissappointed as a German eating a kebab in Ilford.
