The Sicilians".......Part II
So, one game over - almost half my 2000 score under my belt, and no spears found so far. How bizzarre! What was next was of course the Massegatea......
.....eh??????
The Don had deployed a river to narrow the table, but the massitigitaehae had placed a large piece of RGo in the center of the table where their bowmen began to dig in for the duration. Seeking to screen them off with Spear and LH, and to instead force a passage down the riverbank, this time the full Sicilian force was assembled - Roberto DiNiro commanding the Germans and regular Kn by the river edge, Al Pacino with the lunatic Kn (O) in the center, and The Don taking on the job of leading the foot soldiers on the left
The Norman Pedestrians on the far left, hoping to bottle up the Masigitttty Cv and auxilia with their swift advance before they can emerge from the RGo
But, the hot-headed Sicilians start to deviate from their plan - the Bw (X) with the Don are soon inching forwards to support the LH on the end of end of Pacino's line - bringing them into a shooting war with the Massivegitty bowmen lurking in the cover of the RGo And they turn out to be both Massed and Gitty - seeing the Sicilian plan as clear as day, plan they inch forwards themselves and open fire - a couple of 5-1's and 2 blocks of Bw (X) are down - ooops!
Whatsa matter with you? I think your brain's goin' soft ...Never tell anybody outside the family what you're thinking again!
Over by the riverbank things look better - not only are the Knights making steady progress, but the accompanying LH have made it across the river, and are now filtering back, threatening the flanks of he massegurtiean nobles.
With Knights in the front and LH on the flank, the Cv are soon more Messy and Nobbled than Massegateaeae and Noble.
What's that Light Horseman over there doing those hand signals for?"
"It's a Sicilian message. It means Luca Brasi sleeps with the fishes"
But, by now the Spearmen are in disarray - bowmen keep knocking them down like ninepins, and the Dons command is on its knees. In a last desperate attempt, even the non-supporting Psiloi are thrown into the fray - as they seem to be the only troops who can hope to stand up to the bowmen as they emerge from he RGO to taunt the disheartened Sicilian pedestrians. The psiloi have initial success - but then it is over for the Don's men. DiNiro and Pacino must fight it out alone.
However they have changed the rules of the game. No Longer are they trying to kill the enemy at DBM - they are playing chess, and are seeking to get all their troops across the enemy baseline. Time and time again they charge forwards - and each time the Mucky-grifters stay tantalizingly out of reach.... and each time another Sicilian is nicked off the end of the line by the swirling drifts of LH.
Can they survive? As his command breaks apart under him, Pacino's No 2 receives a message from the enemy lines. They wish to talk to his boss - and him alone.
"He wants us to send Al to hear the proposition. And the promise is that the deal is so good that we can't refuse."
Pacino rushes forwards - he is met by 3 LH.
It is the last roll of the game - 3-2 up, if he wins, or draws, we get away with a 2-8 defeat.
He Rolls.....
He dies.
