The next day dawned – apparently – and we dragged ourselves towards the Venue of Champions – Burton Town Hall.
Our army had a Fin de Siecle feel about it, a toy-packed Sung Chinese army chosen because I have had some fortifications for ages, but never used them in a competition, and also my Day-glo Green Chinese spearmen had also been underemployed for some time.

It also allowed us to deploy some Expendables, 2 types of artillery, and a Ps(X) – using a cute Kennington Miniatures figure I had had for a long time - all of which could make life very difficult for Elephant armies. These were the comedy elements, however against an expected Rus & Kn (F) heavy competition, we also fielded 19 Regular Bd (O) (with supporting Ps) and 16 regular bowmen. Our plan to deal with massed warband was a little shakier, involving stuffing all our army behind a wall with the blades manning the perimeter!
