FV 4401 Contentious401 viewsFV 4401 Contentious was a prototype British air-portable tank destroyer of the early 1960s. At least one prototype was constructed and tested, although no production vehicles were built or saw service. This was not seen as a substitute for a main battle tank; one which would have to be heavily armed to deal with the massed and heavily armoured Soviet tanks of the Cold War. In particular, there was no attempt made at protection against the NBC threat that was expected for any European conflict.

Tank, Infantry, Black Prince (A43)399 viewsTank, Infantry, Black Prince (A43) was the name assigned to an experimental development of the Churchill tank with a larger, wider hull and a QF 17-pounder (76 mm) gun. It was named after Edward, the Black Prince, a famous 14th century military leader. Black Prince prototype number four, at the Bovington Tank Museum (2008). The red-painted frame on the turret top is a sighting vane to allow rough but quick aliment of the gun in traverse when viewed through the commander's periscope
