Comet543 viewsThe Comet tank, or Tank, Cruiser, Comet I (A34) was a British cruiser tank that first saw use near the end of the Second World War. It was designed as in improvement on the earlier Cromwell tank, mounting the 77mm HV gun in a new lower profile and part-cast turret. This gun was effective against late war German tanks, including the Panther and, at most ranges, the Tiger.[2] The tank was widely respected as one of the best British tanks of the war, and continued in service afterwards.

WW2 Desert warfare section539 viewsThe Western Desert Campaign, or the Desert War, was the major stage of fighting in North Africa during the Second World War. Following the British defeats in Greece and Crete, the Western Desert was the only avenue for Churchill and the British army to continue the fight against Germany, and it therefore was central to the British war effort. For Adolf Hitler and a German military committed to waging a war in the vastness of Russia, the war in the desert was a holding action of minor importance
