It was also widely used in the European theatre by reconnaissance regiments of British and Canadian infantry divisions. A few vehicles were used for patrol duty along the Iran supply route. The Humber armoured car was also used in Burma.

At least one prototype was constructed and tested, although no production vehicles were built or saw service. This was not seen as a substitute for a main battle tank; one which would have to be heavily armed to deal with the massed and heavily armoured Soviet tanks of the Cold War. In particular, there was no attempt made at protection against the NBC threat that was expected for any European conflict.

The red-painted frame on the turret top is a sighting vane to allow rough but quick aliment of the gun in traverse when viewed through the commander's periscope

TOGII425 viewsThe Tank, Heavy, TOG II was a prototype British tank design produced in the early part of the Second World War in case the battlefields of northern France turned into a morass of mud, trenches and craters as had happened during the First World War.
A development of the TOG 1 design, only a single prototype was built before the project was dropped.

The flamethrower nozzle replaced one of the machine guns, and the flame fuel was carried in an armored 500L (133 gallons) fuel trailer towed by the vehicle. Later versions had the fuel carried in a box-shaped tank mounted above the L3's engine compartment. The vehicle weighed 5 tonnes. The L3 Lf saw action in Abyssinia, Spain, France, the Balkans, North Africa, and Italian East Africa. From 1936 each CV/L3 company had a single L3 Lf platoon
