Hoffman and Ramos Arcanist Crews for Malifaux
Lots of proxies plus some other metal bits and pieces
What's Going on Here Then?
Malifaux is a steam-punk set skirmish game by Wyrd Games with some really well developed back-story on the different factions. I have painted some more stuff that is visible here
For my Ramos crew I quite fancied the Mobile Toolkit - it buffs up a lot of abilities for various Masters, and can also explode quite dangerously towards the end of the game. However, Wyrd don't make one just yet, so I cobbled one together with a walker from Ground Zero Games and also a Repair Drone from Crooked Dice.
This is pre-varnishing (with Dark Tone Army Painter) so it's still a little box-fresh.
The day-glo green light makes it a come alove a bit - but it is also quite Sci-Fi still. Hopefully the wash will tone it down a bit and make it more grungey.
From the back. I decided to give the prehensile arms a non-metallic look otherwise the model would be very monochrome. I imagine they are covered in some sort of fabric.. or maybe they are half-alive?
The new Brass Arachnid only comes in the Marcus box set, and I've already got 2 Marcus (Marcii?) and all of the other bits in the box as well. It also appears to be way to big for the 30mm base, so I made one using the GZG spide drone, and then bent the two guns together to hold onto a rotating buzzzsaw blade (as the model has a buzz-saw attack melee stat).
The buzz saw disc is two 15m ancient shields glued together, and then "serrated" by just using a stanley knife to make a series of cuts into the edge of the joined discs.
Here they are with Alternative Metal Ramos, showing the scale.
And Again..
The Blessed of December is fairly pokey model, and is also a Marcus-friendly Beast to boot. But the artwork in the Crossroads book is a bit skimpy, and the official figure isn't out yet. It also looks like it might have the same sort of easily lost or breakable antlers as the Jackalope. So, in the meantime here's a stonking great hairy purple Yeti with a very bad attitude as a proxy.
..and again.
The Blessed of December's bad attitude may well be down to forgetting to put his pants on this morning - not ideal for someone supposed to represent the all encompassing power and hunger of December.
This is an old odd looking medieval knight on steroids that I have had lying around for ages. He's now been pressed into service as a proxy Guild Guardian.
Ramos and his little brass spider.
The Arcane Emissary
Arcane Emissary - a proxy model from Reaper Miniatures
It's huge - but just squeezes onto a 50mm base
The Arcane Emissary is a tough old melee beast - here next to Hoffman.
Great melee attacks - as you can see - for the Arcane Emissary
I have a page with links to all of the Malifaux content on this site which you can find here
